When God is Delaying

“We must not measure God’s thoughts with our ways, and the purposes of eternity by the hours of time. We must not attribute delay to impotency or forgetfulness.”

Delay is discipline to us, and God has reasons for it. It tests our faith, cultivates our patience, and excites our hope.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

Habakkuk 1:2-4, KJV

2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear!

even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!

3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me

to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me:

and there are that raise up strife and contention.

4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth:

for the wicked doth compass about the righteous;

therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
